Season 10 American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina charmed the enthusiastic crowd during ABC's three-hour CMA Music Festival special Sunday night. The CMA fest, which was held June 9-12 in Nashville, was the first big non-Idol concert for the singers, and both showed visible nerves in the introductory clip. At one point, Alaina said, "My whole town would fit in that stadium."
Alaina wasn't far off: 70,000 fans were there at LP Field, and McCreery and Alaina were sharing the stage with such country music luminaries as Reba McEntire and current country sweetheart Taylor Swift. Kelly Clarkson, the first American Idol champ, was there as well, singing a duet of "Don't You Wanna Stay" with Jason Aldean.
Alaina performed "Anyway" with the country great Martina McBride, and McCreery sang "Your Man" with Josh Turner -- and both proved that they did indeed belong on that stage. Watch their performances below!
McCreery's debut album Clear as Day will be released on Oct. 4, and Alaina's Wildflower drops on Oct. 11. It looks like the two have already been warmly welcomed by the passionate and loyal country music scene -- so they should expect some solid album sales!
