The backup dancer who reportedly got into an altercation with Demi Lovato -- causing the Disney star to quit her current tour to seek treatment for emotional distress -- has been identified.
Alex Welch, also known as "BGirl Shorty," is rumored to have been punched in the face by Lovato, 18. A source describes the incident to People as a "short, physical altercation" that was "one-sided."
Welch is a member of the dance troupe Beat Freaks, which were the runners-up on season 3 of America's Best Dance Crew. She is currently shaking her thing on the Jonas Brothers tour.
Gossip site OceanUp.com posted a photo of Welch with what appears to be a bruise around her left eye. The picture shows her sitting next to Nick Jonas and two other women at an apparent Halloween party.
According to TMZ.com, Welch is talking to lawyers about the incident and may file charges against Lovato. Sources close to Lovato say she's feeling "awful" about her behavior, which led her to leave the tour and seek help.
