Apparently, being an American Idol judge makes people want to go out and launch their own talent competitions. Simon Cowell did it with The X Factor. Paula Abdul did it with Live to Dance. Randy Jackson did it with Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew. And now Jennifer Lopez, just four months into her Idol post, is reportedly developing her own musical talent search.
Tentatively titled Que Viva (which means "living" in Spanish), the show sounds a lot like Idol for Latin America. In fact, she's teamed up with Idol producer Simon Fuller and his XIX Entertainment company to find a network home for the series, which "would have Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony touring Latin America and searching for the best undiscovered musical talent," according to EW.com.
The prospect of getting to tour around Latin America with her husband and children must be enticing for Lopez, who's become focused on her brood since the birth of her twins, Max and Emme, three years ago. Could she leave Idol for this new endeavor?
Still, it's hard to imagine Lopez dropping Idol for such an endeavor, considering how much this gig has raised her profile. Not to mention that she's reportedly raking in $12 million for one season of work!
If she's smart -- and with a negotiated salary like that one you know she is! -- she'll stick around Idol for a few more years. She can always have her own show on the side. If Jackson can do it, why not J.Lo?
