If you were to go into labor in the middle of a mall, you'd probably call for a doctor -- but it turns out that Chris Rock may be the next best thing! According to Us Weekly, the comedian was shopping at the swanky Neiman Marcus department store in a popular New Jersey mall last week -- when just a few feet away, a pregnant shopper's water broke. Concerned mall-goers gathered around the woman, who was about to step on the escalator when she went into labor. Rock joined the crowd and kept everyone calm by cracking jokes.
"He was making the crowd and the woman in labor laugh," says an eyewitness. "She recognized who he was immediately and he stayed there until the paramedics took her away."
Rock often speaks lovingly of his own two daughters, Lola, 8, and Zahra, 6 -- so we wonder if he was getting flashbacks of his wife Malaak Compton-Rock going into labor with the girls! So far, no one has reported on the condition of the mother or child -- or whether the child is going to be named Chris. (If it's a girl, it can be short for Christine!)
Chris Rock, star of this year's Grown-Ups, will appear in his first Broadway show this spring alongside actors Bobby Cannavale and Annabella Sciorra.
